There is a small window of opportunity that exists where a significant difference can be made in the outcome of a medical emergency. That opportunity revolves around how quickly we arrive on scene to prevent further harm. The implementation of the Paramedic Program has vastly improved the chances for citizens to be treated with Advanced Life Support and survive.

The first Firefighter/Paramedics started on Vallejo Fire Engines in April 2001. The Paramedics now assigned to each station provide Advanced Life Support for each resident within 4 to 5 minutes, half the existing County standard of 10 minutes.
