Traffic

The mission of the City of Vallejo Police Department’s Traffic Division is to reduce property damage, injuries and deaths caused by traffic collisions in the community. Preventative patrols, pro-active enforcement, community education, analysis of traffic collision data, investigation of traffic collisions and active problem solving are used to accomplish this mission. The Traffic Division works closely with the Traffic Engineer and other city departments to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians. The Department also participates in various Avoid The 11 programs.

Parking Citation Information


Paying the Citation: Citation's may be paid by mail, phone, or the Internet. Payment must be received within 30 days to avoid additional fees.

To contest or dispute the citation: Call the Parking Citation line at (707) 651-7172 for information on the Initial Review process. Requests for an Initial Review must be received within 21 days. 

Abandoned Vehicle Information

To report a vehicle that appears to have been abandoned, please call (707) 648-4682 or make the report on the Police Department's website: Report An Abandoned Vehicle.

Please be prepared to provide the following information, if available:
  • Vehicle make 
  • Vehicle color 
  • License plate number 
  • Location of the vehicle 
  • Info about why the vehicle appears abandoned

Taxicab Operations

Taxicab driver's are required to obtain a permit to drive a taxicab in the City of Vallejo. The permit process includes a background check and drug testing. To obtain a City of Vallejo Taxicab Permit, contact the Traffic Division to make an appointment (707-648-4329).

On the day of your appointment, bring the following items:
  • The original, completed and signed
  • Your California Driver’s License
  • The original drug test results
  • Cash or credit card to pay applicable fees
Fees
  • Initial Taxi Driver Permit – $150.00
  • Taxi Driver Permit Annual Renewal – $50.00
  • Taxi Driver Permit Replacement or Transfer – $25.00
On the day of your appointment, you will have your fingerprints and photograph taken.

Frequently Asked Questions:
  • The background investigation and permit process could take up to 30 days.
  • You may not drive until you are issued a permit.
  • Read the application CAREFULLY and answer the questions ACCURATELY. Failure to do so will result in the denial of your permit.
  • It is your responsibility to read and understand the provisions of the Vallejo Municipal Code (VMC 5.32—Taxicab Ordinance) pertaining to the operation of taxicabs.

Extra Legal Load Permits

In order to move an extra legal load through the City of Vallejo on city streets, the City of Vallejo requires individuals or businesses to obtain a permit. Permits may be obtained by contacting one of the approved permit companies below. You can click on the company name to be directed to their website. Permit processing fees vary by company. You must carry an approved and numbered permit in the vehicle while transporting the load. While most permits are reviewed and approved by the Police Department in the same day, there may be instances when they are not. Please plan accordingly.
