Project Description:
Provide college scholarships to Vallejo youth and support and enrichment to students entering college

College Bound Vallejo provides students attending a college within 75 miles of Vallejo with financial support to pursue higher education and reach their academic and career goals.  As part of the criteria to receive scholarship funds, recipients will perform more than 9,000 hours of community service in Vallejo.  The service requirement provides a public benefit and aims to foster a desire to improve Vallejo and a sense of duty to improve one's community.

Project Updates:  The application deadline was May 30th and a reception for recipients was held on June 25th.  Scholarship funds will be expended over two years, and students must meet community service milestones during this term.
8/31/2014 Scholarship recipients complete their first community service milestone.
8/8/2014 City of Vallejo processes the first scholarship disbursement.
7/12/2014 An information session is held for recipients to review community service requirements, process for receiving scholarship funds and receive counseling.
6/25/2014 A reception is held to celebrate recipients and their families.
6/18/2014 The 68 scholarship recipients are notified.
6/2/2014 A panel is convened to review the applications.
5/30/2014 The College Bound Vallejo applications are due.
The agreement is executed between the City and VCUSD.
4/9/2014 The Board of Education approves the agreement for two months of outreach activities and 21 months of college support services, totaling $20,000.  The agreement also describes $2,800 in value and financial in-kind contributions from VCUSD.
The College Bound Vallejo application is released.
11/19/2013   The City Council adopts Resolution No. 13-179 N.C., which includes a set of conditions to be met during project implementation.
