Project Description:
Install emergency lighting, new flooring and energy efficient windows.

Implementing Entity:
Public Works Department, City of Vallejo

Background:
The project was originally conceived of two parts: capital improvements to the Florence Douglas Senior Center and a pilot project to provide programming for seniors at an existing establishment known as the Conversations Senior Lounge.  After the vote, the proponents of the Conversations Senior withdrew their portion of the project.  Additional improvements were identified at Florence Douglas Senior Center, and the total project funds were allocated for improvements to the Florence Douglas Senior Center.

Project Updates:  PROJECT COMPLETE!
1/12/2014
Work is completed, and project funds are fully expended.
1/6/2014   Work begins to: remove vinyl floor and replace with tile floor; address plumbing issues revealed after floor removal; replace windows with double pane and energy efficient windows; repair dry rot; and replace and paint trim around the windows.
11/18/2013 Installation of emergency and exit signs is completed.
9/3/2013 The upgrade of HVAC system is completed, including the replacement of the swamp cooler and four HVAC units.
8/27/2013 The City Council adopts Resolution 13-138 N.C., allocating $34,180 for cost overruns at the Florence Douglas Senior Center.
7/23/2013 The City Council adopts Resolution 13-121 N.C., redistributing $74,969 for the Florence Douglas Senior Center portion of the Project.
7/9/2013 The City Council directs staff to bring a Resolution forward to implement the Florence Douglas Senior Center portion of the Project.
