Project Description:
Install cameras at key public locations to assist police in deterring and prosecution of crime. Purchase and install fixed and mobile Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras for the Vallejo Police Department to utilize technology and provide opportunities for crime analysis.

Implementing Entities:
Vallejo Police Department

Background:
This project increases the capability of the Vallejo Police Department by capturing visual data in real time. This project will be implemented in at least three stages. As part of the first phase, approximately 11 cameras will be installed at the Ferry Terminal. Additional fixed cameras at strategic locations within the City and mobile cameras affixed to police vehicles will be added. In addition, PB funds enabled the Vallejo Police Department to purchase a Video Management Server that provides a centralized location for collecting, storing and analyzing camera footage.

Project Updates: Phase 1 purchased and installed 11 cameras in the Ferry Terminal. Phase 2 purchased six fixed ALPR cameras to be placed across the City at major thoroughfares, and five mobile ALPR cameras to be installed on police vehicles.

New cameras were purchased and installed in the Ferry Parking Garage in 2016.

The balance will be used to update Police patrol car cameras in early 2017.
