Before tossing out your electronic devices (anything with a plug, cable, or battery), consider donating or selling your gently used or repairable items. If the item cannot be repaired, it should be properly recycled.
The City of Vallejo has several options available for residents looking to recycle their e-waste responsibly.
Examples of electronic waste include: Microwaves and other small household appliances, televisions, computer monitors and towers, cell phones, DVD players, printers, hair dryers, and more.
IMPORTANT: Electronic and universal waste, such as fluorescent tubes and consumer batteries, are prohibited from the trash. These items contain a variety of hazardous components like lead, cadmium and mercury, arsenic and flame retardants. When dumped in a landfill, these materials can contaminate the soil and ground water, harming the environment and surrounding communities.
