What is California Redemption Value (CRV)?

Consumers pay a California Redemption Value or CRV fee when they buy beverages packed in certain bottles or containers. They can receive a CRV refund when they take their CRV beverage container to a buy-back recycling center or retailer. CRV refunds are $0.05 for containers less than 24 ounces, $0.10 for containers 24 ounces or larger, and $0.25 for boxes, bladders, or pouches containing wine or distilled spirits. Eligible beverages are packed in:

  • Aluminum
  • Glass
  • Plastic
  • Bi-metal

Milk containers, infant formula, juice in a carton, and non-beverage containers are not eligible for CRV. When in doubt, check for a "CA Redemption Value", "CA CRV" or "CA Cash Refund" label on your container.

VALCORE Recycling, located at 38 Sheridan Street, is a non-profit recycling center and the only CRV buy-back center in Vallejo. They are open Monday through Friday, 8AM-3PM (closed 11AM-12PM for lunch and major holidays). For more information including the buy-back process, visit VALCORE Recycling or call (707) 645-8258.
