The Power of Many Hands

The City of Vallejo is grateful for the volunteers that provide a broad source of expertise, talent, and manpower in service to our entire community. Volunteers can also gain new skills, meet new people, and develop greater knowledge and understanding of city government. Helping solve community issues, secure job references, explorer career possibilities and gain personal satisfaction by making a difference are all reasons to serve in YOUR community.

Volunteers assist with special events, animal care, gardening, tours, arts and crafts, child development, and much more. Some organizations can utilize volunteers as young as 12, while others require the volunteer to be at least 21. Short-term options include helping with fairs, festivals, sports activities, adopt-a-park clean-ups and other one-day events. On-going opportunities offer the chance to work with animals as well as youth and seniors. Unpaid internships and group options may also be available.

The City of Vallejo, in partnership with Solano County, is ready to support Community Based Organizations and event organizers advertise volunteer opportunities for youth and adults. These include short-term as well as on-going activities.

Connecting Volunteers and Nonprofits

For 60 years, Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) has worked with local nonprofits, leaders, and volunteers to help them elevate their impact. With the launch of www.volunteernow.org, we connect passionate community members with the causes they are passionate about across the North Bay and beyond.

Powered by HandsOn Connect, the www.volunteernow.org web portal brings volunteer management to new heights with a fully functioning website supported by Salesforce. Users can register and schedule volunteers and teams, report attendance, and organize service events with just a few clicks.

Volunteers are a critical part of an organization's success; however, we work with nonprofits every day who report frustration over engaging and deploying volunteers successfully. CVNL worked with HandsOn Connect extensively to refine our volunteer matching technology to respond to these challenges.

New features have been added, including a new module for corporate employee engagement, expanded search functionality, virtual and on-site volunteer opportunities to aid nonprofits impacted by COVID-19, and a new module that supports local disaster response and recovery, allowing community members to sign up in advance to be trained and deployed.

We welcome you and are so glad you're invested in changing communities through the power of volunteers! For Community base organizations in need of volunteers CVNL Solano is here for you, too!
